The Airbus A320 entered the Qatar Airways fleet in 1999 when five aircraft were leased from SALE. One stayed just five months and the others remained in the fleet until 2004.
During the five year lease period ten directly ordered aircraft arrived from Airbus with two in 2001, two in 2002, four in 2003 and two in 2004. These were all delivered in small logo/small oryx livery which they still wear today, being the last aircraft in the fleet to do so.

The A320s are configured in a Two Class 12J/132Y configuration with a regional product with 45 inch seat pitch in Business Class. On routes within the Middle East Business Class is often designated as First Class.
The A320 fleet works services from Doha throughout the Middle East and to India, Africa and European services to Athens, Istanbul, Vienna and Rome Fiumicino.
